Pray pray pray

okay guys i have a couple of prayer requests, although they may seem kinda stupid and insignificant they are quite a big deal of us as we're trying to settle in.
1. that we have comfortaway from the internet and our computers, most of us are spending a lot of time on our compters right now because it help us feel like we are at home, although staying in contact with home is no bad thing the amount of our time it is takin up is not healthy and in the long run will probably make us feel more homesick rather than feel better.
2. for space in our dorm, right now there are 12 of us and it's squished, we are expecting 2 others and our corner especially is going to struggle for floor space for our bags, we don't have cupboards or anything so not having floor/personal storage space makes it hard to settle in and get comfy here.
if you could just pray that we find a solution and cope with being on top of each other that would be great!
thanks!

A couple of days in Africa

So i've been in Uganda a couple of days now, DTS has officially started but we have just been spending the time getting to know each other and learning about YWAM values! there are 11 girls in our room but we still have a couple to arive, our DTS is 17 people so far with about half Ugandan and half western. our DTS staff are all ugandan and so lovely. so far we've done lots of singing and hugging! last night we also played musical chairs, musical statues and duck duck goose, it was rather entertaining!
So far my learning of Lugandan consists of Weblle (thank you) and that is all.
I've finally stopped feeling ill from my malaria tablets which is a big blessing because it ws horrible!
We took our first trip into Jinja yesterday with the whole group so Msaki (our DTS leaer) organised it but when we have to get there and back alone it will be interesting! yesterday we had 20 people in a 14 person minibus it was certainly a squash! but it was good to get some biscuits and a phone and some other bits however getting used to ugandan shops and markets wil be an experience! we also need to learn how to get cheap prices because we a Munzungu's they will try and charge us more
This afternoon i went into my room to find a cat sitting on my bag! it was cute but slightly scary!
i had so much else to say but right now i cant remeber.
for all of you that wish to pray for us i would just ask that you pray for unity in our group, protection from sickness and peace from being away from home!
sorry this post is all over the place but hey i'm sure you can make sense of it!

Wednesday 17 August 2011

Well i finally found some time to blog, right before my A level results come out whilst UCAS is confusing me and i'm panicking SLIGHTLY! it's funny i didn't think i'd be this nervous i know what i'm doing next year and where God wants me and thats whats most important right now, i guess sometimes you don't realise how much you wanted something till you don't have it or maybe you want something so bad you haven't surrenderd it to God and so although you wana say i don't mind as long as i'm following God's will, in reality you mind A LOT. either way i'll pray about that, and for peace about whatever happens at the end of today!

well now that rants over what have i been up to since orienation?
I went off to soul survivor week b with the guys from church, it was a realy good week, worshipfilled fun filled and great to just spend time with my friends before i pack up! nearly 600 people gave their lives to christ during the week, thats something pretty special and so exciting! God also taught me a lot about myself as i prepare for the year ahead, somethings i have to face and go through are going to be really tough, but that just means i have to rely on God even more!

This past week i've had Becca from my team staying for a few days, she is such a lovely person and such a blessing we've had so much fun and it's distracted me from my results! i'm really excited to get to know the rest of the team better too and a can tell we are going to have sucha good time just from being together that whatever happens we'll be able to look after each other and everything will be okay!

So i guess all i have to do right now is face the day ahead knowing whatever happens God works for the good of those who love him! plus i have a whole year to figure out where God wants me in spetember 2012!

Training week

So internet here has been kind of down and slow, but hey i guess i've gotta get used to that, apparently hinternet has been down in hopeland (YWAM base Ugnada) for a couple of months now! so i might not be blogging that much for a while!!
So orientation has been really informative so far, we learnt about all the ways we are going to (possibly) die! haha, we wont, but seriously if you feel the need to pray for us, praying that we get safe and real medicine would be really great!! but Dr Rob was such an inspiration to us and such a lovely an of God he's really awsome! i also found out i'm gonna get fat, and get up at 6 in the dark and work really hard! but hey it's all part of the service right!?!?!
We've been on a few walks in the beautiful sussex countryside, we walked a couple of miles through some fields to the village, just to find there was nothing there and then we walked home! on our group also went on a walk and darling becca asked if bluebells were cows!!!!
Today we talked about realtionships in mission and how NOT to pick up african men!!!! and cherry wrote us all post cards with words on them from God, it's amaxing that someone that doesn't even know you can so accuratly speak to you and know you, isn't God awsome!
So just a little bit about our team headed to Uganda, there are 7 of us, 6 girls me Tess, Becca, Katie, Namoi and Claire and Christian is the only boy, you gotta kinda feel for him! also appart from me Naomi and Claire the others are all american, so i'm starting to say things like prescious, awsome and adorable a lot oh ball'in!!!!
well i lost my train of thought so i'm a love you and leave you, laters!!!!!!
